I have heard mixed opinions on this but many of my friends and some of my family that have attended Macquarie thought it was both unfriendly and not a terribly social place granted that most of them attended over three years ago.

Has it changed?

Is it a friendly and social university?

Thanks :)

lol what? no offence but I find that hard to believe, its one of the friendliest and most social places I know. However you only get out what you put in, so if your friends and family didn't stick around and try and make friends, then its not going to be social, regardless of who/where you go

Even before I started I heard nothing but good things about Macquarie.

macquarie is a mean place
the girls dont talk to u and r stuck up
u wont get laid
theres no social life
the only friend i made was this computer nerd called gary
Speak for yourself.

Uni is what you make of it, if you won't get involved with any social clubs or events then don't go saying that there is no social life. As for "stuck up girls", I have yet to meet any who are. Everyone I've met at MQ is nice and friendly. Perhaps it is the way you approach them?

What is up with that?

Always handing out fliers for some bullsh*t event or gathering to discuss about issues that hold more complexity than their extremist minds can handle.

Ridiculous.

I heard from my Career Counsellor that Macquarie is a very warm and friendly place.

Apparently it doesn't have the elitist feel that Sydney Uni has.

Middle class white kids with a need to validate their existence by 'rebelling' against the social norms, typically. Most of them come from well off-to-do families and whatnot.

Personally I support the plight of refugees and whatnot, but hate how these guys trivialise matters by attaching it to university elections and shit. Dunno who's worse, the Christian groups who try and trick you to join their club/cult or the Socialists whose line of recruitment is "for shame you fascist hitler"
