i reckon they sound more like the who than anyone else
i always thought are you gonna be my girl was just a "modernised" version of iggy pops lust for life. the rest of their songs are beatles, stones and acdc moulded into one.

Look What You've Done has the same progressions as the Beatles 'Sadie'.

But I mean, even if they're a rip-off band, Jet is pretty fun to listen to...Are you Gonna Be My Girl is a cool song...

Crowded House are from NZ. Jet are decent, but they've obviously got a long way to go before you start using the words 'best band' when describing them.

But it's not just best band but best Australian band. If you're going to be literal (as in native Australian) - might as well give it to Yothu Yindi.

But Jet being at Homebake has certainly turned me off going there - considering they are a headline act, which does not justify the fanfare. I prefer Splendour, which is absolute kickass and highly recommended for music fans.

On that note, the Finn brothers' new album ain't bad at all. I'd recommend it.

yeh jet are ok but they dont have much substance... and they are very beatlesesque so i dont think they are original enough to be the best aussie band... espesh when you look at all the other good stuff out there like silverchair ;) and powderfinger and classic bands like ac/dc etc etc

i went to a whitlams' gig in may - tim freedman (the lead) commented on how get was very "beatles-esque". He doesn't like them and my feeling is many other musicians don't like them for their unwarranted success. It's like dave hughes from the glasshouse (wil anderson isn't a fan either): "if you make it out of frankston [where jet come from] with a full set of teeth, you're a success"

I think that says it all, really.
