Is it worth it to pick up a subject mid-way through preliminary? (1 Viewer)

Hey, so as the title says i need some advice on this issue. I want to pick up a subject, specifically english extension. I really love english and it is one of my favourite subjects, and i have no doubt that through hard work i can exceed in the hsc with it. However, i really am wondering if i should pick up the extension subject.
I actually did extension at the start of the year, but i dropped it because nobody else in my class did it so i was the only student. This honestly deflated my confidence and i really dropped it because i was nervous doing it alone. I know its a silly reason but i really did feel like i couldn’t do it myself for some reason.
However, lately ive really been wanting to pick up extension again. I’m willing to catch up on all the work and do the assessments ive missed, i just need to know; is it worth it? I have less than a term and a half, so ive missed half the content already and it might be a bit hard to catch up on everything, especially with all the work from my other subjects.
i dont even know if they’re still running it bc im pretty sure monody does it lol, but if they do, should i do it?
Please let me know if im making the right decision, im planning to also ask my teacher about this tomorrow to make sure there is a possibility of me picking it up again.

In the event that you are allowed to take English Extension again, I second the notion that you should take this subject. This is due to a couple of reasons.

First, the fact that you are still in year 11 is important because of a few factors, including:

• None of your year 11 results will count towards your year 12 results or ATAR, meaning that there is no reason to be worried if you initially don't perform at a level that would satisfy you.
• You will get an opportunity to catch up on missed content, enabling you to further develop your writing ability and familiarise yourself with other relevant elements such as techniques.

Second, being the only student taking this subject at your school (this applies to year 12) means that you will not be in a state of extended competition with other students as you would in other subjects (this is with respect to school-based assessment tasks/exams, i.e. internal performance). Instead, you will be your only competition, meaning that your only goal throughout year 12 would be to perform well in all of your internal tasks, with the intention of constantly improving as you eventually reach the HSC exam of this subject. If you end up being the only student taking this subject at your school, I believe that the moderation process would not be as much of a concern as it would in the case of other subjects because, in such a case, your Assessment Mark (the mark that reflects your performance in your school-based assessment tasks/exams and also contributes 50% of your HSC mark in a particular subject) will be made equal to your own Examination Mark (the mark that you receive for your HSC exam, which contributes the remaining 50% of your HSC mark in a particular subject), therefore making your own performance in this subject solely dependant on you.
