I heard that when your atar gets calculated and ur on 11 units a 2u subject gets halved. So i just realised i screwed up because i dropped 4u because of the overall workload. But then thought about it and decided that it was best if i kept 4u and dropped bio, since the content is boring me in class. So ill be on 10 units because its the same as being on 11. what do you guys think?

Lol what? 10 best units get counted either way, probably good idea to keep 4u as long as you are able to keep up and go well.

With 10 units you can't afford any mistakes as everything counts.

With 11 units you have a small safety net - if you make a major stuff-up in a 2 unit course only one unit or half of it will count

It's similar but not really the same. You still have 1 unit as a backup if you do 11 units but no backup units if you do 10 units.

I'd say the different between 10 and 11 is notable (not workload wise or that) just that 10 units=EVERYTHING counts whereas 11 units that's not true.

Important thing is not to just think solely about the units. Think about the 4U course and if you are capable. If you are not, you are compromising your ATAR. If you are, put the work in to achieve a good mark in 4u and you will have no problems ATAR wise. However, also think about whether or not you will be able to put time and effort across all your subjects if you do decide to undertake 4U. It is by no means an easy course (I dropped it and it was the best decision of my HSC). So TL;DR, think about your capabilities and decide from there.
