Ok so I have an interview on Friday ...they said it would be 'semi-formal' in nature and I should dress smart. Do you reckon jeans, a nice top and ballet flats is 'smart' enough? It's in between classes at uni so I don't want to get too dressed up because I have a lab in the morning...

I'd say dress pants/skirt and a button up shirt would be your safest option. It's not formal, but its not casual either.

Jeans are probably not such a great idea - just go with a nice pair of pants or a skirt... ballet flats are probably ok though

The dress seems fine, you just want to appear 'formalised' basically.

I think it's always best to dress the way they would expect you to if you work there or more formal.
Dress world be ok or like someone else said dress pants and a nice top.
Yeah, that's what confused me a bit because its for a Peer Networker volunteer position at Orientation 2010, so the uniform is basically one of those orange t-shirts and bottoms of your choice :D

I'm going with the dress, I feel its 'dressy' enough...but I'm usually a VERY casual dresser(shorts/tee/thongs) so my opinion may be a tad skewed.

Thank you for all your responses!
