i came across this and found it quite amusing,
why dont you guys have a go and ill tell you the
answer later:

Proof:

Red triangle --> 3:8

Dark green triangle --> 2:5

Not the same ratio, so the 'gradient' won't be the same.

Hence both figures are not an actual triangles.

Interesting note: the lengths of the triangles (all of them, even the small ones) are terms of the Fibbonaci Series. Just something I noticed lol.

Oh and if there's any confusion, the 'missing square' comes from the fact that if I superimpose the image of one triangle over the other and I only see the 'gap' in between the larger and the smaller triangle, I will see a *really really* skinny parallelogram with area 1.

Try it for yourself!

(Probably best done using a simple sketch then the determinant of a matrix rather than many geometrical constructions).
