This is hell! Apparently it was meant to be sorted by Friday, and still nothing, so my dad called and asked and someone said that once all UAC acceptances are finalised by the 29th, accom offers (all the remaining ones) should be sorted by Monday. Still nothing, and still being considered by Fenner which is fairly good luck on my part. But the waiting is killing me!

Hey, I'm in the same position too. I called ANU (and was there for PEA and went to Accommodation to speak with them), and having a relative whole can 'translate' uni-speak, what the email and accommodation mean, is that they not only haven't any space, but they don't know where they will put us, and actually haven't begun looking yet (on Friday we're likely to hear they haven't found anywhere yet). Any idea if this will cost the same? What about parking, they already have problems with it...? The idea of a commute doesn't sit with me, I think accommodation should pay for my fuel if they do.

Actually, just an update, my related source is calling people at ANU - the situation is that the Uni owns a number of apartments in nearby suburbs, and they are normally reserved for Post-graduates, this is most likely the accommodation we will be offerred. However, these will involved small commutes -- PLEASE NOTE: ANU is hoping that we will all defer or dropout, so that they don't have to admit this, or deal with the problem, so please, I hope that we all stick it out and make them fulfil their garantee.

Okay, so my last update is as far as ANU has gotten; this happened in 2006, and was the reason that UniLodge was commissioned - in that event ANU hired two floors of the Rex Hotel on Northbourne Ave. They are also now assuring that the price of accommodation will be comparable to that of on campus accommodation. That's all the info I can get for us, it's entirely up to the minute as to where ANU is at.

This is really poor hey. The only reason I got a UL offer is because I was worried when the ANU site said "Accom offer made" despite the fact it wasn't (and you only have strictly 48 hours to reply). I called up and they sent a 3-share through for me. I'm from WA. Not having residence was not an option for me.

Imaging the shit that would have happened if Kinloch wasnt opened last year..

Really really poor.

I think what it means and correct me if i'm wrong is that the university will rent out large properties in nearby suburbs and park students there and theoretically we'll only be required to pay the weekly rental for Fenner or B&G. Sounds like a pretty shite deal to me because I applied on August 29th a few hours after the applications itself opened. If they can't give me an offer WHO THE FUCK GOT IT?

As they have said many many times, accommodation is not first come first served for most halls, so it doesn't matter whether you applied back in August or whether you applied in January. (I applied in December and got into Ursies which was my 1st pref.)

If you get into the Rex, you'll probly cook/eat/socialise/do laundry at Fenner like last time they had people there. And can I point out that realistically, this isn't ANU's fault. They've seen that in the future they're going to have an accommodation shortage and that's why they're building the Laurus wing of Ursies and UL3 but the govt's changes to youth allowance have meantt that a lot of people who would have deferred haven't so you've got the people who did defer in '08+the people who would have come from 09 regardless+the people who didn't defer from 09. It's unfortunate but realistically unavoidable.

ajdlinux, if not application lineup, what criteria do they hand out accom offers on then?
