From my understanding 'IPT' by Sam Davis is the only text book to cover the new syllabus. However, it doesn't specifically describe some points from the syllabus such as

From Chapter 1, Project management

(understanding the problem)
"- analysing the existing system by determining how it works, what it does, and who uses it"

(planning)

  • the requirement report that:
    details the time frame
    details the subprojects... etc
Just to name a few, haven't looked through the rest in detail yet

The book may allude to several of the points it doesn't cover, but it doesn't specifically talk about them, which is what I need.

Say you have a useless IPT teacher (who picks and chooses points to teach us off the syllabus) how would one go about getting this information?

Also, the "Designing" part of chapter 1 barely follows the syllabus. WTF?

While I appreciate your contributions to this thread, I believe you are misinterpreting driaxx's posts. I think she means (like I do), other than Sam Davis' text books, there is not much information specifically explaining (in more than a dot point like the syllabus does) the new additions to the IPT syllabus.

Although my problem does appear to be solved. My problem was that my IPT teacher had provided us with information regarding the old syllabus, i.e. missing the new points of the syllabus. After speaking with my IPT teacher, year advisor, and deputy principal, my IPT teacher conducted additional classes specifically for covering the points he missed. He also provided my class with relevant information for the new course.

Thanks for the replies though.

driaxx?? this whole web community was built on the concept of sharing resources ..
as opposed to those occasional users who seek to have others think for them

if kcrocks has "relevant information for the new course" why wouldnt we all wish that they shared ?

Of course, we all would.

Correct me if I'm wrong, I am also interested in this information, but do you not find that you are greatly contradicting yourself? You said I was being spoon-fed for trying to find information on the course, (despite the fact that I have made numerous calls to the Board of Studies and many searches of my own and came here as a last resort, but of course I'm assuming you're still referring to me as someone who "seeks to have others think for them"), so wouldn't that make you also being spoon fed?

Please tell me if I have misinterpreted something here.

i think i am in the same boat as 'kcroaks'
finding specific information on the syllabus dot points is hard
im using the heinemann textbook and the macquarie revision guide
and neither are proving to be great as you probably already know..
this is actually probably a pointless reply but if you find any better resources, sharing would be really appreciated:)

Am happy to help fill in the "holes" BUT
your teacher HAS TO teach to those dot points so why not ask them to go over the topics you are having trouble with :music:
