hey, can someone please explain to me how an impressed current system works, because i cant find any resource which explains it simply and i need it for an assessment task. Thanks......

Inpressed currents, are exactly what there name suggests

its a form of cathodic protection actually, a potential difference is set up between what it is trying to be protected and an inert anode, the iron for example is given a negative charge so all in all it is impossible for iron atoms to displace into solution, therefore corrosion cannot occur..

Basically, the impressed current replaces the lost electrons from the corrosion process. Since the object to be protected is connected to the negative terminal, electrons flow down the wire to replace the lost electrons which would otherwise cause the (usually iron) object to rust.
