Adding to what 1039213, how useful and helpful is other subjects apart from HSC Maths units, such as HSC physics & chem for example? Do you have to memorise a lot of info in UNI like it is in HSC physics?

I am assuming your question is in regards to if you were to take engineering at university.
I would say that yes they are helpful to form the foundation of your engineering degree (Phys and Chem especially).

This is where university students differentiate from high school students.
You will need to stop to think about what things are and start to think about why things are.

Hence, yes you would need to KNOW a lot of information.
Notice that I used the word KNOW not MEMORISE. Because memorising means that you don't KNOW what to do with the information. The information is just is.
So to do well at university, you can't just memorise information, you need to know them. Why things are, why they aren't, etc. The why connects the what and it will be much easier for you to remember things. Don't worry about memorising.

My field is in infrastructure, mostly road and rail projects.

I have walked through the same journey you walked through.
Going through high school, and uni. Trying to figure out life, career choice, etc.

He joined a hsc site in 2020 so I doubt he completed it 20 years ago. And 2000 is an oddly smooth number

His doing you a favour, the type of content that your teacher is looking for is more academic and less practical, whereas the Civil Engineer in this post probably has more specialised and practical knowledge of bridges which wouldn't really score that well in an assignment.

Since this thread has been revived, it is interesting to note that OP described his graduate starting salary as $66K and calculated that with indexation rate of 2.5%, in 2018, the equivalent should have been $78K. In reality, last year (2020), graduate salaries for civil engineers was $60-65K, so salaries have gone backwards, which is a reflection on the current state of our economy.
