I got an ATAR of 67.90.

I got an offer in the Main Round at UWS today for the B Business and Commerce (Management).

I am going to accept it.

I however am now going to apply again for the Late Round Offers.

I want to apply for a Bachelor of Liberal Arts and Science (which requires an ATAR of 70.25).

I went to a school whose students are automatically eligible for the Broadway Scheme.

I wanted to know what are my chances of getting an offer at U Syd

I am 2.35 points below what is the cut off however I will be eligible for the Broadway Scheme.

http://sydney.edu.au/current_students/student_administration/admissions/broadway_scheme.shtml

''In all the other Broadway-approved courses, however, approved Broadway applicants can expect that the full five ATAR rank differential will apply.''

However it also says this:

''Almost all of the University's UAC offers under the Broadway Scheme are made in the Main Round of offers. A very small number may be made in the Late Round (and the Final Round) if the Broadway quota is not filled following Main Round acceptances. You cannot rely on Broadway places being available for any University of Sydney course in the Late and/or Final Rounds of offers''.

I checked on here: http://www.uac.edu.au/documents/atar/2014-main-cutoffs.pdf

And I found that my preferred course still has vacancies left.

So what are my chances of getting an offer in the Late Round with the assistance of the Broadway Scheme?

If I may ask, why do you want to go to usyd so bad?

There is a large difference between arts/social science and business management. If you only chose arts/social science because you want to get into usyd, then my advice is to go to UWS. As someone who did a degree I had no interest in for a year just to be at a specific uni, I can tell you right now that its not worth it:

1. Usyd doesn't do internal transfers unless you are changing your second degree for combined law courses. Therefore, there is hardly any advantage to be there if your end goal is to transfer from arts/social science to commerce.

2. Its much easier to get a distinction average at UWS than at Usyd. Which in turn ups your transferring chances next year should you choose to do business at usyd. I mean, you need a REALLY high mark next year to get into commerce at usyd. I got a 85 ATAR, a solid credit average (70) and bonus 5 points from EAS...and got in by the skins of my teeth. How do I know? Because I didn't get into a course which had a 96 cut-off (and commerce is 95).

3. "Prestige" isn't that much when you do arts/social science...as the stereotypical arts student image is less than glamorous. In fact (not saying I agree on a personal level), they are almost seen as jokes by students in other faculties -> "well, at least I don't do arts"/"oh he/she does arts, he/she'll be fine"

4. The pressure. This to me is the thing I regret the most. For a full year (2013), I was placed under enormous pressure to do well. Not just pass or even get above average but to get into the top 20% because otherwise I know I'm stuck. Every single exam was horrible as I know that it could have been THE ONE which leads me to being trapped in a very narrow profession with little employment prospects. Like to give you an example of how bad I felt, I have been counting down the last fortnight till today losing sleep every single night and whatnot. In the end, I got into commerce (again, BARELY) here which is wonderful but never again do I want to experience this.
