I clearly didn’t follow this advice myself but I’d really emphasize the importance of English to getting a high ATAR.

Getting a mid/high band 6 for English gives you a great chance of 99+, whereas a mid band 5 could cripple your chances.

For a school ranked ~100, you’d want to be in the top 10% in every subject at worst (preferably rank 1).

Lastly, you don’t need all band 6s, especially considering that your subjects scale well, but you’d need some high band 6s to balance out any band 5s.
If we could use polymerization between you and @totally_screwed, you could get the .95 easily

if you guys are upset or regretful at not .95ing you need a MAD reality check
you deserve to be upset if you're actually capable of .95ing.
an overachiever being disappointed is different from an underachiever being disappointed.

yeet off the harbour bridge if you don't get the .95 @idkkdi?
no lol. 99.95 looks cool and thats about all it means. at the top end of the spectrum, you're honestly just trying to be a retard on tests and making sure you make no errors.
What's more impressive is how you did better in 4u then in 3u, many other good students get like 97 in 3u but like scrape an e4 in 4u.
quite common, and with 4u tests getting easier, it's really just a silly error battle for the good students.

99.95 is nothing but a club. If you get an ATAR of 99+, you're in the top 99th percentile of a state wide cohort of 70,000 students. Pre decent.

real advice tho if you go to a top 300 and youre capable and willing to get a 99, internals should be fairly easy to get first in everything. After that just dedicate the next month after trials to smashing out past trial and hsc papers. Try to do that throughout the year as well.
just dont go to school and smash out trials the entire yr honestly.

this reminds me, every 1 atar point e.g. 95.00-95.95 actually encompasses exactly 1.7% of the entire state cohort for all atars above 75 or something
nope. not 1.7%. not bothered to explain, but no.
