Okay so this is my first year in year in a prestigous private school in Sydney. I mean ive been getting decent/average results (around 75-85) for each subject (maths english and science more around the 85 range). Im planning to do 3 unit, physics and advanced english, which I have all been approved for. I think im doing well in school, but my parents dont.

I mean ever since I joined my mum gets really stressed at me when I games (pc/console) which Im only allowed to do on weekends anyway. She says how i should move out etc provide for myself when she really gets annoyed etc saying ill become a garbage cleaner and fail everything. The thing i dont understand is, i see my classmates gaming on weekends staying up to like 12pm gaming (i have to get off at 8pm) and my mum gets all mad and me etc.

I dont really know what I should do. Are my marks bad? Im overall well behaved, well except in PE where sometimes i wont do something to the best of my ability, and my mum gets really pissed and saying how PE will count towards my SC and everything.

What should I do?

I infer from your post that you're in Year 10? Year 10 does not matter. At all. Particularly PE. I know someone who got a D for PE on her School Certificate, and yet now that she's at uni she's never gotten below an HD for anything. I myself did pretty badly in some things back then and yet I'm doing alright now.

That said, it's good to get into good study habits now, before your senior years, but ultimately it doesn't have a huge impact on anything and you really ought to be able to enjoy it while you can. Of course, convincing your parents of that is another matter.

I don't really know what you can do about it though :/ I was lucky enough to grow up in a household where we were pretty laissez-faire about it all (despite being half-Asian!). If it gets too bad you might want to have a chat with someone at the school about it - teachers do understand this kind of thing.

Let me guess: Asian parents?
It's not that bad a stereotype. If I were a betting person, I would bet that OP's parents were Asian. :p

--

OP: My parents were essentially the same, without the whole garbage cleaner thing. At the end of the day, you have to understand that your parents only want the best for you. How I went about this was I had a sit down with my parents, and explained to me that their pressure and their stress was counterproductive to my studies, and that them constantly hassling me to do work resulted in me possibly burning out at inopportune moments. Just make sure that when you have this conversation with your parents, you check your emotions in at the door. Anger or hostilities etc don't help at all (trust me, from experience).

When I didn't make my bed my mum said I'd become a drug dealer, never laughed so hard in my life. Had to run out of there before she pwned me for laughing though.
