That's part of the way of how it is formed.also is the first one, butene + H2O???
well i say the question is asking the other way round of answering. like what are the compounts which forms e.g. 2 butanolThat's part of the way of how it is formed.
Strange question, I'm not sure what the question asks...
I suppose the first one can undergo a dehydration reaction to form butene.
1. Hydration of 2-butene using dilute H2SO4 catalyst at 300C will always form 2-butanol.How do i do this question. Suggest how the following compounds could be prepared
1. 2-butanol
2. 2,3-dichloropentane
3. 3-bromohexane
oh i thought the first one would be 2-butene + H2O1. Hydration of 2-butene using dilute H2SO4 catalyst at 300C will always form 2-butanol.
2. 2,3-dichloropentane could be formed by bubbling Cl2(g) through liquid 2-pentene.
3. 3-bromohexane can be formed by the hydrohalogenation of 3-hexene by bubbling HBr(g) through it.
Yeah, it is. I said "hydration" which means reacting with water but you need a catalyst (H2SO4) because it water won't readily attack the double bond in 2-butene. The double is highly concentrated with electrons (negative charge) and so, you need a catalyst with an electron deficiency such as H+.oh i thought the first one would be 2-butene + H2O
