A micrograph of a dividing cell from a mouse showed 19 chromosomes, each consisting of two sister chromatids. the haploid gametes produced by this mouse would contain which one of the following chromosome numbers?
a) 76
b) 38
c) 19
d) 10 chromosomes in the male gametes and 9 chromosomes in the female gametes

The answer is c) 19. but i don't get why...
isnt it that the 19 chromosomes, each with two sister chromatids, is the diploid number?

thanks in advance = )

c/ as each with two sister chromatids (diploid number) would produce haploid cells each with 19 single strands

The question is sort of ambiguous. At what stage of division is it at?
