not to sure how to start it, can anyone help with intro?

at the moment i can see 2 logical approaches:

1. go through the main international organisations + trading blocs + agreements and show how each have promoted the features of globalisation

2. go through each feature of globalisation and show how trading blocs + agreements + international organisations have promoted this


in your intro, you should be putting forward what issues you will be arguing, perhaps even chuck in an evaluation of the extent of the influence.

things you could consider:

1. are they freeing up trade, or just creating more trade barriers?

2. how effective are they in promoting free flow of capital/trade? (effectiveness of international law)

in your intro you should:

define Globalisation. define trading blocs, name an example like EU. in between say that int orgs n trading blocs have a huge impact on globn. they stand in btwn the liberalisation of trade and the opening of markets, or integration btwn economies (known as globalisation). whereas int orgs like WTO try to remove these trading blocs and free trade.

this should be followed on with loads of examples of how trading blocs stand in teh way of free trade. E.G. EU gives its farmers subsidies (CAP - common agricultural program) to save them from overseas competition. this prevents aussie farmers from selling in EU countries. in other words, it demotes globalisation.

Talk about WTO, doha round etc etc. since you have to talk bout agreements, you can also talk bout free trade agreements like TAFTA and SAFTA and CERTA which on the other promote globalisation.

REMEMBER: YOUR ESSAY SHOULD INCLUDE HEAPS OF EXAMPLES! try and have contemporary stuff if you can!
