Hi everyone,
My name is Adrian and I graduated from James Ruse in 2017. I'm offering private tutoring for HSC 3U and 4U maths, as well as Music 2 (particularly composition). You can see my HSC results in my signature, and I ranked highly throughout the year, including equal 1st in Music 2, 1st in 4U trial and 3rd in 4U overall.
Maths: I believe my strengths are in explaining key concepts and ideas, as well as helping you tackle the harder questions in HSC papers. To this end, I am quite familiar with HSC past papers and HSC-style questions. I'll be happy to go at your pace: matching what you cover in school; explaining harder concepts from the beginning or delving into harder questions, whichever stage you're at.
Music: this will be less formal, since Music is a less structured course, but I will specialise in Composition, the area I find most people struggle with. Of course, being a creative subject, this depends mostly on you but I believe I can provide helpful pointers, from both my HSC composition and some experience composing on my own. Please note I do not yet have my AMusA and cannot technically teach you towards that, though I can offer my suggestions on your performance (I only play piano).
I'm happy to tutor at my house in West Pennant Hills, or alternatively at libraries up to Castle Hill, or Carlingford/Epping. (I'm somewhat flexible so feel free to ask about elsewhere, especially if it's reachable by public transport.) You're also welcome to ask me questions throughout the week, and I can either reply soon or in the next lesson.
I have two existing HSC students and we usually find an hour covers a week's worth of content, but depending on your stage and my schedule, I'm willing to go for longer if necessary. I tend to go slightly over time.
Since my tutoring isn't very structured - I match your progress - there won't be any obligation at any stage to continue, so if you're comfortable with the material or feel that your time is more productive elsewhere, do let me know at any time.
Please contact me by PM or at adrianlaw25@gmail.com if you're interested, for more details or to discuss times and pricing. I look forward to working with you over this year!
