yeah I'm in my final year. I don't have any regrets, except maybe that I took a year off after my HSC, or that I didn't study harder in my first year. I've only recently fully appreciated the number of doors that a combined commerce/law degree opens - there are plenty of career paths to choose from after graduating (e.g. finance/banking, accounting, management consulting, investment banking, law etc). Obviously career prospects will vary depending on your marks, but USYD law grads are in high demand.
Of course, most law students will agree that law is hard - so YOU will need to decide whether it's the right choice for YOU - too many students come on here expecting others to tell them what to do. If you're after more specific info, feel free to PM me or check out

thank you for your insightful response.
atm i'm at UWS studying law and am wondering if i should study harder and attempt to transfer.
luckily for me, when transferring you can decide whether it is 100% GPA or 50-50 GPA/ATAR
my GPA for this semester would be a high credit/low distinction.
next semester, if i really put my head down and study, i should be able to atain a high distinction, making my GPA on the distinction level?
though i should probably study really hard next semester to be competitive.
USYDs white paper is also beneficial as i'm not from sydney's north shore or eastern suburbs
there are pros and cons to the transfer of course.
pros would be USYD is sydney's most prestigious law university, has great career prospects, has great facilities, is somewhat closer to my house
cons would be:
i might not be able to get advance standing for a few of my units,
UWS has a more practical aspect, particularly in regards to mooting (whereas USYD is more theoretical?.. though i have heard rumours that USYD bought UWS's law curriculum
i will probably leave behind most of my other fellow law students at UWS.
USYD is alot more competitive (might be good i dunno),
i can do an honours without having to do an additional year (ie. with that additional year i might choose to do a masters at USYD/ANU)
there are alot of large firms starting to invest in UWS as well., so i might come off with a great job, whereas at USYD, i would really have to strive to get those top jobs
though for now, i'm not aiming for a top-tier firm, but am looking into the government, particularly in regards to a criminal prosecutor capacity within the DPP
please tell me more about the commerce/law stream.
so far (i'm in my first year) i've decided on accounting as my commerce major, although i have thought about transferring into economics, though i will have to do a few make up units.
maybe i will just do an economics degree at ANU later in life.
what do you know about the graduate entry?
because i'm doing a 5 years commerce/law degree,
at the end of the 3 years (having graduated with a commerce degree), do you know if i can claim advanced standing for my other law units and transfer into USYDs graduate entry, and finish within 5 years? (the same as if i just stayed at UWS)
also, do tell me about what you aim to do with your law/commerce degree
