are you reading any currently? i'm currently reading the secret history by donna tartt :D
OOH CLASSICS! I just finished Needful Things by Stephen King and now I'm reading the Silence of the Girls by Pat Barker [recommended by my ext teacher]. It's super duper heavy.. I'm surprised she recommended it, tbh! How are you liking the secret history? :oldcool:

stephen king is always a good choice, i haven't heard of silence of the girls but it looks really interesting looking it up :)

secret history is so fun, i love whodunnits and mystery, and it's really interesting how technically the 'whodunnit' isn't there (cos we 'know' who killed bunny from the very beginning). i went in not expecting much but it's very good, easily one of the best christmas gifts i've gotten

Damn extension english 2?? Can you share what you're writing about?
yeah sure!! i've wanted to do ext 2 since year 7, I've been so excited for it. i feel like i'm at like complete odds with the rest of the bos community!!

i'm doing a historical fiction piece on the 1832 Paris Uprising, most likely writing it as a compilation of historical documents (letters, trial documents, newspaper articles). I'm trying to play on the idea of hope and legacy, focusing on a real life person who I discovered through old-timey records

I'm about 1000 words in, at the moment I'm just waiting for my teacher to reply to confirm whether this historical document idea will work, or if I should just go back to my other idea of prose fiction.

are you thinking of doing extension 2?

Same!! I love a good whodunnit especially for reading before bed. I'm so happy it's one of your fav Christmas gifts :DD
I finished Silence of the Girls last night and had a good cry. Truly heartbreaking..
BTW, do you have any good recommendations? At the moment my friends are only giving me cringe romance recs by Colleen Hoover and Penelope Douglas 😭😭 Booktok things smh :haha::haha:
god on my list of what to not trust tiktok for, books is absolutely one of them 💀 💀 . but i'll recommend my two favourite books ever - the midnight library by matt haig (+if you liked that, how to stop time was also very good, by the same author) and good omens by neil gaiman and terry pratchett. i like historical fiction, if you're into that you should check out fatherland by robert harris (alternate history detective novel on germany post-ww2 had they won), it's a detective thriller and starts off with a murder that branches out into a much bigger conspiracy, it was really good.

have you got any recommendations? i really want to read a ton before school starts, i miss reading a lot :(

hot book taste🤩
but why are books so expensive 😫😫
i can deal with books being $20 or so (i used to only buy books from big w or target when i was younger, those were around $12-$16, but all the good books i want are much higher than that (one book i wanted was $35... 💀)

Although I am not the biggest reader (in comparison to what you two seem to be.

I do like the 'Nevermoor' series by Jessica Townsend, don't know if you've heard of it
i read the first book (the trials of morrigan crow i think???) a few years ago and i have it at home, i think i'll reread it again, i never went past the first book so let's see if that'll change

Wow.. I would love to read it, it sounds fascinating!

And yes, I'm thinking of ext.2 but I'm not sure what to do because interpretation is subjective; one marker may like and the other mightn't. And there's so many options
AHHHH :D:D
thank you omg!!! if i do okay i might upload it to bos. yeah choosing subjects is stressful, i'm really enjoying it so far. the objective thing is definitely a worry but i do a lot of history and english which can have similar issues so i'm sort of used to it

i love like all of those books, except nevermoor - i never really got into it
i really liked six of crows and song of achilles (booktok pulled through with those ones!). les mis is a good classic to read if you have a bunch of time. i loved if we were villians if you can stomach shakespeare. femina is a fun history book :)

currently reading atlas six and probably going to read hamnet, sistersong and trinity next, if i can get them done with everything happening!

OOhh I don't read many from magical realism.. have you read Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami?

Otherwise some good thrillers/psychological thrillers [I like the latter the most, to be honest]

The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides
Dream Town by David Baldacci
Dead Zone by Stephen King
Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami
Verity by Colleen Hoover
A World of Curiosities by Louise Penny
The Woman in the Window by AJ Finn

Most of these are available online as free PDF's on sites like zlibrary and pdfdrive (books can be so expensive tsk tsk). Let me know if you get around to reading them!! Hope you enjoy them, I know I did!! ;)

It's just another search engine, like google chrome or safari. If you type in something like 'tor browser' it should come up and give a way to download.

Reason it is 'dangerous' is that it is one of the ways to access the dark web

I read that msg a little too carefully. Sounded like you were stalking a woman while she watched tv...
