What do you mean 'trust'? It'll give you an estimation of your ATAR, thats it. It won't be 100% accurate, but it usually gets within a few points of being correct.

It's pretty much 100% accuarate for the year's stats your using.

But generally for all years, it won't be more than a few points off your actual ATAR

there is a big difference in ATAR estimates between matrix and SAM.
Who do you think is acurate?
My ATAR differs by 10.....

Hope I posted this in the right thread

thanks

Checked my estimate with 3 atar calculators including SAM and they have been 3 points off each other, my school estimate being the low random one ==

i wouldnt completely trust it, but its an OK indicator of an estimate.

Advanced SAM was pretty close with my 2009 ATAR. I got 97.40 and it predicted 97.35.

SAM predicted 99.8 for me, only 0.05 off.

From what I've heard, the higher you go the more accurate it gets. But it's usually a fairly decent estimate of your mark ...

It works by using past years data and constructing statistics curves to match the data points

then when you input your subjects, SAM reads off its curves and gives u an estimate, thats BASICALLY how it works, but I dunno the details :p

My 2c - SAM is awesomeness personified. Predicted my ATAR exactly.

Einstein was 0.05 off.

i used matrix and SAM and they got within 1 mark of each other and i put in the exact same marks for both.
ive heard they both seem to be pretty accurate, if you use it right.
so if your pretty sure what you can get in the HSC i would trust the calculators
