hey all...i gotta school assy where we have to build a motor ...how do u make a armature, split ring commutator, and brushes??
and how do u put it all together ....i have noo idea
please help! lol

Well, ahh do you know what they are?

Im hoping you do.

We are using a mini test tube as the armature (dont ask!) but you could use anything similar. With the split ring commutator, we are using brass strips, ie we tape them on and attach the wires to that. I think we are using brass for the brushes aswell, not sure though.

for a commutator, will it work if u have any two pieces of metal curved or is it made from something special that you have to buy?

magnets for the magnetic field, large cork with copper wire wrapped around it for the coil and a cork with 2 pieces of foil stuck onto it with foil stuck on the board(brushes) connected to the DC supply

i used insulated copper wire for the coil and also for the brushes with the insulating covering sand-papered off where they touch and then i found something for it to spin onundefined
