question... you have a population of 250 million in the United States..... .6 million live in Nebraska...what percent live in Nebraska?

Percentage = (Population of Nebraska / Total Population) * 100%

.'. 0.6/250 * 100%

= 0.24%

Isn't that it?

depends..either is correct, though 0.6million can be confusing

@gretired: You can just get rid of the millions, because you're getting rid of the zeros (if they are the same on top, as on the bottom).

Make life easier for yourself, "0.6" and "250"

Don't write any more zeros than you need to,
