Also keep in mind that this was more than 10y ago - during a time when math had no formula sheets or multiple choice, and we could leave the hsc early (I left my phys and chem exam after 90mins).

Dam a 96 in the old 4u syllabus is godly and even in the new syllabus

Oh my bad I meant the old layout, there was no mc and the papers were so much harder back then.
i was talking about standard english because from what ive heard, it scales so badly. im sure getting 80 in adv is different to an 80 in standard

Oh right mb. But even if I got 80 in standard, still probably would've ended up with 90+. Maybe on the low end, but 90 nonetheless.

Yeh true but it's still all relative. They could make the paper ridiculously hard such that the highest raw mark is 50, but it'll all get scaled up accordingly anyway lol.
Well I got an 85 in standard Eng and ended up with about the same atar.
did you get band6 for the rest of your subjects??

Standard doesn't affect your atar too much, I got:
Standard English - 87
Maths 3u - 99
Maths 4u - 98
Chemistry - 89
Physics - 91
and I ended up with an atar of 98.70. Getting a 90+ atar with standard english is pretty much as doable as getting a 90+ atar with advanced english

do you know your raw mark? is 4u 98 ur scaled mark or raw mark?
I mean obviously scaled and actually the term for it is aligned not scaled.
If that was his RAW mark he would literally be first in the state lol. He would've gotten around 94/95 raw. Just short of a state rank, you gotta be amazingly good to get that kind of mark.

So 98 is my aligned mark, and as Drdusk said, my raw mark would be around 95%, I'm not sure what my exact raw mark is though
