you need to put in your aligned marks not raw - so you can really only get an accurate reading if your school gives you your aligned mark

oh... hmm try using the matrix calculator - go to google and type in "uai atar calculator", I used it and it's pretty similar to my estimated marks that my school gave me

Matrix is weird, going from UAI to HSC, I get my required mark, going forward I fall 20 points short

it scaled 70 for chem down to 50, is this thing stuffed?
If the ATAR is the same as the UAI, then it is a rank, so it doesn't matter if the mark looks low, just how it compares to other subjects/other aligned marks>scaled.

There's nothing surprising about this.

An aligned mark of 70 in chemistry last year would have put you in the bottom 30% of the state.

Despite this, your scaled mark (50/100) would have been about average. If anything, you'd expect the scaled mark to have been lower.

At the end of the day, if you think any of this doesn't sound quite right, it probably means that the estimate of the aligned mark isn't quite right.

Most people struggle to estimate aligned marks, including those who post on this site. It's very difficult to do it accurately.
