I'm horrible at competitions e.g math, science, english. I can never choose the right answer even though i have a 1/4 or 1/5 chance of getting it right. The highest I've ever gotten is a credit (i know, i'm stupid). Anyways, our science teacher says these competitions are an indication of our performance in the school certificate. I want to believe she is wrong because I got a participation (yay...).

Anyone do bad in these but do good in exams etc.?

some people may disagree but imo:

school and uni: 80% work, 20% talent
competitions: 80% talent, 20% work

what makes u suceed more in life is ur work though. u will achieve better marks at school, better at uni, and employers will not go for the lazy even if they are extremely gifted.

so if u work hard, u can still do good in the SC and HSC even if you perform poorly in comps

Agreed.

They aren't a good indication at all if you just colour in random circles like me XD

That makes me feel a lot better. I absolutely loathe competitions but our principal pays for the top 30 students so we are forced to do them.

Only competition I have never received a HD for is Maths. Most people would say that Maths is my best subject at school. Go figure.

Doing the maths comp last fortnight made me realise how much I sucked at manual subtraction and division....

this. :mad1:
I mean...I forgot to carry over. And I was like...hmmm, this answer can't be right, so I added it up again, and got a different number to what I was originally minusing from. Damn manual mathematics.
