you guys are all idiots

why choose your profession based on pay? What is wrong with you. Engineering is Engineering. If you're good at it, you'll get a job. 10k difference a year won't make you smile more if you're going to a job 40 hours a week doing something you hate. You will end up bitter by age 30.

sry m8 i meant bad job prospects in Australia
WTF. where are you getting this from? Electrical engineers are in demand all over australia. the only branch of engineering that has limited job prospects in australia is aeronautical/aerospace. other than that, any semi-decent engineering student will find a job with ease.

At the moment it's mechanical and construction/Junior Project management. I work in WA and there are quite a few contractor grads on 170k+. They work long hours 70+ a week, but rake in the cash. Mining is still up there. Rio mining engineering grads had a 150k package this year in iron ore.
