Don't repeat year 12. If you don't get into uni, your life isnt over.
Taking up a uni degree just because its a uni degree is a waste of time and money.

Go out and work for a few years. Work hard and save up some money.

In a few years time, if you decide uni is still the direction you want to head, apply as a mature aged student.
There are plenty of school leaver (no experience) jobs advertised on sites like seek. Many reception/admin jobs take in school leavers and you can work full time and get a tafe degree too. Some don't have tafe courses attached, but others do.

You could even just work in retail or something for a few years and earn a fair bit.

If you do apply as a mature aged student, you'll be able to pay your fees upfront/ won't leave uni with a debt of 30k or so.
If you decide not to go, you'll have an extra 30k that you can use for whatever. :D

And to be frank, imo a lot of lower atar degrees (ie arts) may have majors where you won't necessarily get a job. Don't a B Arts degree just because you can go to uni. Do a arts degree because you want to study that major, and you know where you want to work in the future. It's not as simple as "oh just you can transfer to something else later" because if you really hate what your doing for your first year, then you might be stuck in an arts degree you hate wasting your time and money :/

Honestly, it's not the end of the world if you don't get an atar above 50.
Your life won't end.
You can still make a decent living and live a good life without getting into uni.

Try your hardest every day, and you can get there if you really want it. But don't forget your other options. Never just think of tomorrow, think 10 years ahead and where you want to be then.

Sorry if thats a bit long and confusing.

If it is, just find a rich bloke and marry him.
