I moved from NSW to Canberra.

Canberra life is fine - if you live on campus you wont have a problem. I live with 2 other people off campus, which is fine - but if you want to socialise etc live on campus.

I looked in the other thread - r u looking @ Arts-International Studies/ Law ?? My understanding is it is passed through the uni channels etc but didnt make it in ime for UAC

YEH!!!! THE law school building is EXCELLENT - and the mock trial rooms are REALLY good! All the lecturers try and get their clases in the lecture theatres there.

The dorms are 'ok' - typical uni style. I quite liked the international house when i was looking @ them - aussies can stay in them too..

good luck with u hsc!

Hey Kittycat,

What course you plan on doing?

Yes, there is... A 5 min drive there is Westfield Belconnen - the biggest shopping centre in Canberra with Coles, Woolworths etc etc... I would try early before every else gets back into Canberra as you may have trouble finding a job.... McDonnalds in the mall is always looking for people; or there is McDonnalds, Subway, Redrooster, Sizzler etc on the Lake which is next to UC - walking distance...

Hello googy_1985

Well, I applied for Early Childhood teaching & Commerce, even though I don't really see myself as really being a teacher.

So you are doing Bachelor of Commerce (Banking and Finance) / Bachelor of Applied Economics? Right? Is it fun? What is University of Canberra like?

Wow, now I have hope of getting a job to pay for some of the fees. (I am a Sydney girl & the last time I was in Canberra was seven years ago)

Hey -

Yes - I really like the Uni of Canberra - it was my first preference with UAC...

The courses are very interesting and more of an industry focus. The courses @ UC are similiar to UTS - very 'practical'..

I came from NSW - and ACT is pretty good.. There are a lot people living on campus from Sydney; so you will make friends quick. It may take awhile getting use to the small population of canberra compared to Sydney; although it was the opposite for me - I came from a town of 2500 people - so Canberra was a lot bigger :)

Any ?'s - just ask

Casey

Hey,
The bloke who was in my micro tut in Sem 1 done that degree . I do Com/Eco. In regards to Eco, I find it enjoyable. I didn't do eco in yr 12 (school didnt offer it), i did bus studies and got band 6 - so obviously i was a 'business type' of person. It can be as hard as you want it to be; if you want HD you need to put in the marks etc. It is very flexible type of degree; if you arent into the whole maths, you can do "arts" type eco which is more essay writing. There are a lot of choices of subjects, so you can do alot of marketing economic subjects etc. It depends on your interest.

In regards to media production; I wouldn't have a clue :) BUT I have been in one of the buildings for an economics tut last semester and they seemed well resourced...

The Applied Eco degree @ UC was rated best by The GOod Guides last year, so it is well received by employers, students etc....

Worst case if u hate it is you can transfer out after Sem 1/2..
Any questions - ask or email (c.m.elliott@student.canberra.edu.au)

My first preference is at UC, for B Applied Science in Architecture/B Architecture, but since the UAI cutoff has gone up, im getting a little worried. I only got 75.75 in my HSC, and if it continues to go up, I wont get in. Do you think it'll rise any further?
