1. How do i test my motor? should it work on a 9V battery?

2.any suggesstions as to what could be stopping it working.

3.anyone previously made one that theyd like to share?

i dont know about your school, but at ours, we got to bring it in, and test it using those 6-12V power packs, and usually when it was not working our teacher helped us fix it up before the assessment was due. If your one is due on the first day back i guess a 9v battery would do, and any errors would probably be due to bad soldering or the wires not connected properly.
Also check through the BoS resources for people that have previously made the dc motor, the resources are very helpful
