This is good info, but is not necessary. The questions asks to assess the worth of the technological developments. The key word is worth.

So instead of explaining like that, it would be wise to instead briefly mention that crumple zones increase the time of impulse decreasing force, and that crumple zones come in the form of seat belts and bumper bars. After this brief mentioning, the rest of the question should be based upon the worth and benefits of them.

You can include the above, but in an exam, it would use extra time that you need.

lol, yes literally use if for everything. when a questions says something like "Discuss blah...." that is taken to mean points for AND against.

so say something like while crumple zones do save lives, they are utterly inconvenient and expensive to make. they also remove the aesthetics of the car (unless you're driving an aventador)

Many people say Subaru's look ugly, but that's because the bulging bumpers are there for safety reasons.
