Help needed on equation (1 Viewer)

Hi, i need som help solving the following equation:

"(x<SUP>2</SUP>-4)/(x-1) is greater than 0"

Do I multiply the x-1 across to make (x<SUP>2</SUP>-4) greater than x-1 ??
I tried this and made the quadratic equation x<SUP>2</SUP>-x-3 greater than 0 but I cant factorise this. What am i doing wrong??

Also, how would this equation be drawn on a number line, thanks.

Multiply the equation by (x-1)2, makes it easier to work it.

Therefore you would have (x2-4)(x-1) > 0
(x+2)(x-2)(x-1) > 0

Sketch the graph, and just look for where the graph is above the x-axis.
