i've done my hsc general maths assessment today (weight 15%), and i think i might going to fail it!!! so if i
fail this assessment (like 50% ) can i still get a decent atar (85+) i've done two general maths assessments before (included half yearly), and i only got about 74% for both, my accum. rank for the two assessments was like 15/80 , so just want to know if i work hard in trial and hsc can i still get 85+ atar ??i really want to know how much this assessment would affect me if i fail it.
p.s i never failed any hsc assessments in any subjects before!!

Have you seen how many of these threads get posted? Go ask those people.

In short, one tiny school assessment won't affect your entire ATAR, it is up to you to fix it.

but what if i failed the assessment but my rank is still like the top 20/80?? would this affect my ATAR? or the rank is all the matter??

Its impossible to achieve top ranks because the top students are now ahead of you and will continue to go ahead because that's what top students do, consistency. You now have to rely on your own hsc exam mark to ensure you get a high hsc mark as your assessment mark might end up being low.

i didn't really ask for top ranks, but like how much would this assessment affect my atar? like can i still make up in trial and hsc exam??

Would depend on gaps between the ranks I suppose.

You still have a lot of your ATAR through 50% external marks, plus trials etc you can still make up if you work harder.
