uni maths is hard in that you actually have to understand what youre doing. in the hsc you could do some past papers, do some memorising and youre fine. at uni you really have to like it and be motivated. if youre motivated enough and you dont mind doing the work, stephen, then it shouldnt be a problem.

yes so true. I didn't do 4unit, and did a-okay in 1151,1251 last year. You have to work hard tho, no bumming around.

In some ways it was easier than ACTL courses, but they are still not easy subjects. In some ways, ACTL are not that difficult- but require a lot of hard work.

i guess so.. *shrugs..

personally for me, its not that boring, i work semi-hard, and i have a little talent.... i wonder if thats a recipe for success *crosses fingers until results come out

as i know there are 3 parts that have to be completed to become a professional actuary,

and each part are getting harder and harder, so just few ppl can finish all and become AIAA.

then, what happen to the others which just completed part 2 or even part 1?? are they still

a job easily? how are their careers? (i believe that there are heaps ppl in that situation)

yes the FIAA or FSA are the ones who got job most easily. this is inevitable if you check the career search website for actuarial jobs.
however the job prospect also depends on your age and your other skills.
say you are 22 and completed part 1. They still will probably hire you cuz they believe you are young and got a lota potentials.
additionally they can still consider you if you are multiskilled eg. CPA, marketer

The title is typically "product analyst" and usually requires a Stats degree.

When I did work experience at NRMA R&D, the people (actuaries) I worked with were called senior business analysts, or something like that (can't remember everything)

Owie Owie, Sachi pwned me in today's quiz 1, but I've gotta admit it was easier than 2004's quiz...

I've failed, that's for sure ~30/100; but ended with a high on Trenerry's Algebra test.

Should I buckle down for the next 10 weeks, and cram more? I feel ACTL1001 is like FINS1612- very broad, hence they have almost endless topics to examine us on Actuarial Studies.

Sigh~...waiting at the crossroads...

Yeah.. thats Sachi.. I got 43% i think for the first test... just try and keep up and you'll be fine. After my first actuarial test, I put some effort in, and came out with a good mark..
