what is emf!! and back-emf

i know its electromotive force and i know that it is the potential difference created when the unbalance of electrons moves down the conductor but it doesnt really mean anything to me

can someone please post a easy to understand example or explanation about emf

thanks alot

EMF is just another name for voltage really...
The rate at which electrons flow (voltage).
Back EMF is the current produced in the coils of motors that go in the opposite direction of the main current flow.
This is why the armature in a motor reaches a maximum speed then stays constant.
The back EMF that was resisting the rotation of armature levels off.
If you read up about Lenz's Law, you'll understand why this happens.

isn't that current?? 1 amp = 1 electron/second
i think voltage is the tendency for electrons to go one place to an other...

ROFL 1 amp=1 Coulomb of charge/second.

Which is 6.24x1018 electrons only a slight difference.

Voltage is the amount of energy given to a unit charge.

1 Volt=1 Joule/Coulomb
