Well, it doesn't mean much, as your exams could be much harder/easier than the HSC, as well as a variety of other factors.

If HSC were prelim I would be getting a UAI of around 96 or 97.
Unfortunately, HSC is NOT prelim... and SAM is estimating around 88, 89.
THUS it is apparent that using prelim results in SAM is totally lame.

You can't really use SAM for prelim because you don't know the difficulty of your exams in comparison with the state.

I know its fairly innacurate for prelim results but surely there is more merit for a person like me who goes to a selective school and does quite well?

Anyway I entered my "realistic" HSC estimates for each year 12 class to see my final UAI and got 97.25....surely that is more accurate than using prelim results.

Yeah???

I dunno how to. Cause like....my Physics half yearly was 98, but that's like way too high, I don't think too many people get 98 for Phys, and if people do, definitely not me.

On the other hand, subjects such as Legal Studies, I came fourth with 68, whereas the guy who came out on top got 71. I may not be really good at Legal, but I'm pretty confident that I'm not a Band 3 student. :p

Yeah???

How is it realistic when you haven't even sat for your HSC yet? It'd be realistic if you were currently in year 12 and you were asking for UAI estimates based on your current rankings. This is because people's attitudes change during the HSC year, like 08'ers have said....Noob.
