The friend repeated to get the 99.90 uai. Might be worth it if he got the 10k a year Usyd scholarship?

It's being cut due to lack of funds

But he didn't repeat as in "repeating yr 11 and yr 12". He was quite poor in english apparently so he repeated like yr 10 or something.

Interesting choice - I personally would not do it - seeing the subjects you have lol. But i know someone that did redo it, and he was going to 4 different schools at the same time, eventually got busted. Now thats freakish.

To be honest though, I sort of agree with Osama Bin Laden. Maybe the only reason you returned to school was because you feared change and you feared leaving the place you knew so well?
