This isn't a hard question per se, but I got it wrong in a multiple choice and don't exactly know why:

The Sports Club's cricket oval is in the shape of an ellipse. The width of the oval is 200m and the height is 160m. At the end of the season, the greenkeeper is going to spread fertilizer over the oval. One bag of fertilizer covers 150m. How many bags of fertilizer will the greenkeeper need?

(A) 168
(B) 377
(C) 670
(D) 25133

the answer should be 168?
area of an ellipse = pie x a x b
= pie x 100 x 80
= 25132.74123

number of bags needed = area/area 1 bag covers
= 25132.74123/150
= 167.5516082

therefore 168 bags would be needed

they did;

pie x 200 x 160 = 100530.9649

100530.9649 / 150 = 670.2064328

I have a question....l know the answer, but l would like to know the steps that people took to get their answer. I can normally do these questions quite easily, but this one l had a bit of trouble with (not helping that l was stressing and nervous)

here goes..

Use the formula s= ut + at to find the value of s if u=0, t=5, a=10

Can someone please tell me what answer they got and the working out...thank you!

s= ut + at <-- substitute the correct numbers in

s = 0 x 5 + x 10 x 5 <-- now just divide the question up

s = (0 x 5) + ( x 10 x 5) <-- its now divided up grouping the x's together

s = 0 + 125 <-- this is a no brainer

s = 125 <-- the answer :)

geez i hope that right or im stuffed :p but im sure it is
