Hi...

I dont know if this is the best place to ask...but would like to still ask that what affects graduate salaries? Is it experience? Do you get offered more/less depending on experience.

I have met graduates getting 45k as well as 55k (thats in IT)...but still unable understand why is there so much difference within the same company?

Thanks :).

Cheers.

What they do in the company, their roles.

Their experience.

Their working hours.

Bonuses for performance?

It's all how your present your services if your a contractor.... if you charge an hourly rate for getting a job done people ummm and err (it took 6 hours is this guy/chick wasting time??)... However if you say your getting x, y and z for a fixed price of xxx then people go... yeah i can justify paying this guy.

Should make sense :p

grad salaries differ very little, cept the invest banks like Macquarie pay a bit more. What effects the salaries? basically what everyone else is offering! you'll get anywhere between 40k and 60k depending on industry and role.

Differences depend somewhat on the organisation especially if they are large and highly profitable. Mac Bank for eg. value exceptional IT framework in their company as it is required for their operations. They pay very well but the gruelling hours you work for them means that on a hourly basis you are no better off. It's good if you don't mind a hard slog.

Macquarie Bank has very low salaries compared to other investment banks, a lot of the execs are paid in share options, not cash.

A grad in Ibanking at Macquarie gets maybe 80-85K base. (+bonus)

Some U.S. Banks here offer about 120K base. (+bonus)

dont worry too much about grad salaries, its what u get in 5, 10 years that counts.
