topic^, specifically with maths and English, from what I've heard, science subjects don't really require any tutoring, you can just look ahead in the textbook. With Maths however, apparently the 3U course covers a lot, and so some tutoring would help reinforce all concepts. And I just never really got any good at English so I'd like a bit of help with that.

I think you got it a bit wrong imho :S

Sciences can be self taught ahead but its much much more efficient to be tutored ahead as learning the new material straight from textbook is quite difficult - relevant info is sporadic. I personally believe it is very difficult to learn ahead without more summarised notes than simply a textbook or without a tutor.

Well obviously maths can be learnt ahead with the help of a tutor and it is fairly important that you do so to ensure that when you cover the maths topics in school it is familiar.

English, however, is not something you really need to worry about studying ahead. You can't really study alot of english during the holidays unless you wish to simply master the short answers for belonging since you havent studied your texts or started your essays. Though i will admit that mastering short answers is a very important skill that will have vast benefits for when you DO write your essays. So by all means get tutored for english but it should take second priority to maths and science until school starts.
