Remember how during primary school and possibly the early years of high school being sick was an excuse to take a day off?

Well obviously we can't do that anymore because missing one day usually means missing a whole heap of work from multiple subjects.
If you're sick, do you still force yourself to go? I see people having coughing fits during class and think they should be home getting better and not spreading it to the rest of us but I suppose to them work is more important.

What about when you have exams? I have my half yearlies next week and I've caught a cold. Great timing, haven't been sick for two years and this comes along. Damned weather changes.

Our school forbids us to be away 2 weeks before an exam unless its a legitimate medical problem. They fear that we wag school to study at home and that gives us a leading edge making it unfair for the other students having to waste 6 hours at school doing revision. Yeah I sometimes do force myself to go to school on the days that I know I have every single subject on and i have no frees, i normally wag it when i only have 2 periods and the rest study periods. and i wag alot during the week before exams

Huh, I guess that's a good policy though I'm sure people find ways around it. My school doesn't have any rules like that enforced, just that if you're away on the date of an assessment or exam you need to inform the school, get a medicate certificate and talk to the head teacher of the subject you missed as soon as you return to school. Your parents let you skip school that often? I mean, unless you study really well on your own or whatnot.

just an idea: if you're sick, spread it to your peers so they suffer while you triumph

I dunno, in my opinion its a dumb rule, students should be rewarded for studying more anyway, why hold them back. Yeah my mum lets me skip school whenever I want, it seems retarded but she trusts that I know whats best for myself, and sometimes wagging school to study does help especially on thursdays where i start my first subject at period 4 and have 3 subjects on the day lol, but i only wag excessively once we finish the module otherwise i would be missing out on content that i need to relearn.

I've been sick a few times but usually I do go because I'm not that sick to warrant having to stay home. I got sick the week before exams, and I just went to sleep the moment I got home, took my medicine and I got better really quickly :) I recommend just taking care of your body, and try to go to school if you can. Since it seems like your school doesn't enforce any policies (in my school, you need a med cert if you are away a week before an assessment) and if your lessons are just revision, I suggest staying home. :)

Haha, wow but what happens if that idea backfires and while they're sick and you recover, you catch it off them and relapse?

I meant it was a good idea for the school in order to find out who's taking time off to study but that's true, students should be rewarded for studying more though that's something we're supposed to do at home and it's unfair for the students who aren't allowed to stay home and study.

Yeup, I did sleep as soon as I got home yesterday and didn't end up going to school today. Kinda pointless when half the time I'd be falling sleep and not learning anything new anyway as well as increasing the likelihood of getting even more sick. I don't tend to get sick often but when I do it takes at least a week to recover :c

Look at it at a positive light, at least you are sick before your half-yearlies and not your trials which is probably weigh a lot more:)-just take care of yourself, remember it is a marathon:), usually if I am not severely sick I still go to school(i love school too much:))-need that perfect attendance record:)

Yeah it sucks cause if ur sick your brain is dead anyway so you cant take information in
I go to school when sick but usually do nothing in class/ sleep if teacher is nice cause i find it impossible to learn when im sick, I think just recover/relax for a few days, then when you feel stronger study hardcore and make up for it(I ALSO got sick exactly a week before half yearlies -_-). GOODLUCK at least u will probably recover before the actual exams, in mine i could hear am million people coughing

Haha, I remember the prelim yearlies where there were so many sick people. I just tried to sit through it, trying to drown out all the coughs and sneezes as well as hoping not to get infected. And nope, I didn't get better before the exams; I missed the first whole week but thankfully I have a medical certificate and my mum talked to my year advisor about it so that's good. Now, jsut to cram all my exams in the last few days.
