ok I am pretty cut I put my marks in sam and its telling me uai of like 62 average 66 blah blah...what is the margin for error usually on sam like any one got past experiences of its stuffing up by like 5 uai points or something?

I got some "ok" marks yet i think I will get like in the 50s of low 60's for a uai for some weird reason...which would totally kill me...

my marks are:

IT - 89
IPT- 80
Maths gen - 70
English std 70
Business - 68

any one having similar thoughts?

Yea unfortunately it's kinda weird like that, it seems you either get like... high 80's, and end up with a 90.something uai, or u get low 80's/70's and end up with a 60's uai.

look at the "You and your UAI booklet" that they sent, the examples of people with marks similar to yours and what happened.

My year coordinator and many other people have told me that if your averaging 70s in your subjects and then you'll get a 60 UAI

But all the best James... u got a couple of 80s so you might get in the 70s for your UAI

As the UAI is a rank, look at the percentile each mark places you in, that should explain it.

i.e for business you are in the bottom 40% of the state (60% of the cohort went better than you in 04)

Yeah, um.., the subjects you chose aren't that hot in the scaling either. So yeah, I'm thinking mid 60s UAI.

yeah I know people who were failing and got 35% in the test lol

yea i am having the same thoughts about my UAI i have done alright in my hsc like
in english i have got 72, in business 73, in economics 70, modern history 78, studies of religion 1 i have got 43 and in maths 66. when i used this scores in the SAM it showed i have got 67% and i am now pretty scared but i dont believe it any way.

thanx for letting me know that UAI is a rank not a percentage dear but anyway i dont believe SAM. when i finished my trial i used that SAM to see my UAI which i would get when i will do my hsc it showed me 43% and since then i hated it and now i dont believe it.

it will be lower because evryone is saying this year most done better than last year hence more compettive. hopefully it doesnt get to low, cause i nedd 95 and Juai and SAm give me like 95.95 and 95.6
