You can't talk about the Weimar collapse in 1933 without talking about 1918- 1933. Germany is in three sections...

1918- 1933 (Weimar)

1933- 1939 (Nazi State)

1939- 1945 (War)

And I don't think they'll ask about Weimar again... like last year there was 1918- 1933 question, and then one specifically on the war, 1939- 1945. I'm pretty sure they won't ask a question related to 1918- 1933 this year... probably 1939- 1945 for one because it's the last year that they can.

They've never done a just Weimar question, only the collapse in 1933. However, they have covered most of the other areas, so I'm thinking more early Weimar, eg 18-23, or somehting on the period of relative stability.
almost impossible. that dot point isn't even an in-depth one - it's a "survey" of political, social and economic affairs. it has little relevance to the actual topic of nazism and serves as background knowledge for the eventual collapse of weimar (which as cimbom pointed out) was done last year - and actually, both years before.

I thought this was a load of shit, but I checked the '01-'04 papers and she's right. Question A is from 1918-1933 and Question B is from 1934-1945.

This makes it slightly easier to guess the nature of the questions.

EDIT: In '01 the two questions focussed on the same time period: 1928-1945.

... i can't find it now, but i remember for one year in CSSA there wasn't a question about Weimar at all. There was one about the Jewish community 1933- 1939, and then one about the war 1939- 1945. Weird.

In 2004 HSC they completely excluded 1933- 1939... it was just a question on Hitler's role in the Nazi collapse and one on the Battle of Stalingrad and its role in collapse of Nazism (only 10% answered it, in marking notes). Since 1939- 1945 isn't on the syllabus anymore... (we're the last year to study Nazi foreign policy) maybe they'll exclude the 1918- 1933 period and divide 1933- 1945 into two. That would be awful. It's quite difficult to prepare for any sort of question when you're trying to figure out how HSC examiners think...

Catholic trial questions 2005:

a) Evaluate the importance of Hitler;s leadership in the consolidation of the Nazi regime in years 1933 to 1939

b) Assess the extent to whixh German society was affected by total war in the period 1939-1945.

so no weimar there at all

dont worry the way the syllabus is...u dont need to know the war...just make sure you know everything else, because if one question is on the war, you should be able to answer the alternative question...its never too late, your exam is coming up...

2006 is a different syllabus to all previous years as it is the new one
so the topic is germany 1918-1939
you can mention a little about the war but not very much they are mainly concerned with the time period indicated so dont get caught up with during the war stuff it is irrelevant

Here's a stinker I got.

Did the Weimar Republic survive longer than expected, considering the number of crises it faced until 1933? In Your answer you must present the alternate views of at least two historians.

Was that for the trial? Jebus, that must've been an absolute bitch. So you actually had to discuss structuralists versus determinists?

ièm thinking one question this year might be 'assess the impact of the german army on politicial processes up to 1933' as that is one of the key issues and features that has not been discussed yet (although sylabus is only a year old i know) as nationalism was done last year and successes and failures of democracy has been done alot in previous years. Thoughts?
