How much detail is required when learning about HOX genes? I know gene cascades are important, and that HOX genes provide evolutionary relationships between early organisms and other more complex organisms. Is there anything else I need to know?

my teacher said that you need to know what some of the HOX genes control

9=shoulder
10=upper arm
11=lower arm
12=wrist
13=hand and fingers

i don't know if she just said that we need to know them or if it is actually part of the sylubus

That's the gene cascade part of it, right? I don't have a specific example on it, just a brief outline of the role HOX genes play in it... might just learn an example just in case.

Homeobox genes. And you don't need to know it unless you do the Genetics Option.
