I think that the text you have quoted has worded the law in a rather obscure manner... We would assume that the pair of genes are related to a single trait, but it would be better if it was worded: "Only one of a pair of genes for a particular trait can be represented in a single gamete." The phrase "a pair of genes" does not in any way suggest that they are on the same loci, but for the sake of ease, it is used with that assumption in many text.Originally posted by braindead
