Re: What did you think?

For the mechanics question about what does 'b' represent, I put water resistance.

And meh, I didn't have much time to actually *think* about that probability question. I got 3:1:1 for that ratio.

i tihnk i did the probability question and i got stuff in the ratio of (forget the exact numbers :( ) but it was in the form of ninths.. like 1/9:2/9:4/9 .. ?? anyone else get something like that?

Actually I think velocity of the current is the correct answer now =\

I think its either water resistance or the velocity of the current.

Re: What did you think?

i didnt do the ratio for the probabilities.
did you have to find the limiting sum as n-> infinity for the aswers in i)-iii). seemed like too much effot for one mark.
hopeing 60% zzz. went too slowly..

did anyone have trouble with 8 b) i) ?

i couldnt remove a delta from the answer
i think delta was a constant...not sure though...

yeh my ratio was 1:1:9, i had some ninths in there somewhere..

Re: What did you think?

Could someone who was allowed to keep the paper scan it and post it up?

It would be muchly appreciated.

Re: What did you think?

i actually thought the paper was pretty good - the other girls who did it thought it was pretty hard though... maybe cause i peracticed heaps of harder 3u and there was heaps?
i thought the intergation was a little bit difficult, but i got them all (i think).
the paper did feel different as other people said, but i dont think it was that bad...
i finished half an hour early and got to go back over it and probably scored another 10 marks because of it, then i got bored and waited till the end...

i really wasnt expecting to feel this good about it, especially cos everyone else thought it was pretty hard, but maybe im just being optimistic? who knows.

Its terminal velocity, sub t = infinite

DW i put resistance as well

Anyway, be over delighted with a raw of 100

Re: What did you think?

exactly what i said as soon as i finished the exam... hardest i've seen since the 90s. it was pretty awful... i prob did half of 8 and half of 7.... it was a massive time issue tooo! i realised i had an hour left to do 6-8 i was like AAHHHHH!

Re: What did you think?

I was so glad there weren't any inequalities in it (Harder 3 Unit). My teacher didn't even show us how to do it.

Re: What did you think?

It was different, lots of 3u, and very little mechanics.

I put b as the maximum velocity, so yeh probably speed of the current aswell.

Delta was not a constant. I realised after i walked out that you need to sub in delta = pi/2n or something like that, I think.

Freaking hell is it just me or was that test harder than the past hsc's?!?!?!?!?
agreed
yr 12 - 2008...
we may be really really cool - but the bastards set the hardest ext 2 paper in a long while haha

there were so many things missing which sucked
where was the simple conics question just asking
"draw this stating the asymptotes/directicies, foci and x-intercepts"?
the conics questions they gave were harsh

i did the probabilities

it looked something like this for memory
3 balls same:
(n/3n) x (n-1)/(3n-1) x (n-2)/(3n-2)

3 different:
(n/3n) x (n/3n-1) x (n/3n-2)

the last bit i didnt get and made up - which inturn affected the bit after that
(if i'm wrong... i dont care :p, but i'm pretty sure thats right)

i'm gonna buy next yrs "past hsc papers" cause it has to acknowledge the ppl who made it - then i will hunt them down and make them pay - WHO's WITH ME?! haha

i dunno if im right but for
i) (n^2-3n+1)/(9n^2-9n+2)
ii)(2n^2)/(9n^2-9n+2)
ii)(2n^2-n)/(9n^2-9n+2)

iv)1/9:2/9:2/9 = 4/9

probably wrong.

i hated that test
