here are some we received in class today:

Does Blade Runner enhance or trivialise Shelley's Frankenstein? Support your view by referring to your TWO prescribed texts in detail.

How has the twentieth century transformed Mary Shelley's original premise related to science and creation? Discuss this in relation to both texts.

Imagine you have been asked to take part in a debate on the following:
"There is a common concern regarding what is human in 'Frankenstein' and 'Blade Runner'"
Present an argument FOR or AGAINST this statement.

how have you's been told to structure the essay??
As seen in the example essay, you can alternate between Frankenstein and Blade Runner i.e.

Theme 1
Paragraph 1 - Frankenstein
Paragraph 2 - Blade Runner
Theme 2
Paragraph 3 - Frankenstein
Paragraph 4 - Blade Runner

etc.

Or you can structure your essay like this:

Theme 1 Paragraph 1
Discuss both texts

Theme 2 Paragraph 2
Discuss both texts

etc.

I personally favour the former.

The 2nd way is considered more sophisticated, so you should aim for that, because your integrating the texts with each point you have, so it works better for comparing and supporting your point in a variety of ways.
that said, if you do the first way much better than the benefits of the 2nd give you, obviously do it the first way :)

thats exactly what my teacher says.
very true. it is much more sophisticated to set it out paragraphs in themes or thesis points rather than text 1 then text 2 ect.

Here is an example essay:
Hmmm in my opinion that is a C range response for this module.
It lacks insight, rarely discusses the social climate of RS and MS world and there is really no line of argument.
If that is an A range response then how easy are the HSC markers going to give away marks in this module!

Yeah, I'd say that essay isn't an A range essay either....

Interesting notion of the 'creation' aspect.

But that train of thought might offend 'religious' markers if your not careful.

Although, does it really suit the module ?

Yeah it does suit the module. I mentioned it in my essay in both the HSC and Trial, and I did relatively well in both. I believe it's a good thing to bring up, because the focus of this module is to talk about how despite disparate contexts, the same ideas and notions have transcended throughout time. How there's always a megalonomaniac that is driven by egotistical hubris and their desire for power and forbidden knowledge. :)
