For the seven mark question what did you guys put?

I defined emission spectrum. Used Na as an example. And blabbered on about the rest i.e. how each element has a unique emission spectra....

LOL my drawing of a mass spectrometer was terrible! XD Mainly coz I never tried to actually draw it before the exam.

I used Na as an example as well, and wrote similar ideas to you. I didn't expect we have to draw a mass spectrometer, I only labeled ionisation chamber, magnetic field and ion detector/collector.

For the graph I put the first one...i think it started with N.

The only reason I was able to put something down for forensics today was coz I looked at some sample questions and answers to them last night and this morning. If I hadn't I would have been stuffed!

I remember writing down two steroids for the graph question.

I was going to put two down but for some reason I thought the question only wanted one...

Graph question= Stanozolol (third one)
You had to match the peaks with retention times.

I put none. lol Because it did say "if any" and even though the peaks were the same, their retention times didn't match.

This is my general answer

a)i) Oil patch, blood, threads, paint flakes
ii)HPLC for the oil, threads, paint
Electrophoresis for DNA

?

b) benedicts; heat... blah blah
ii) no terminal carboxyl group
iii) Mass Spec??

?

c) the third one? Stanozol???
ii)temp sensitive [organic explosives]
wont turn into gas easy....???
iii) zaps things and they get charged... move according to field

?

d)Chormium in Erin Brokovich case... used to identify what the source was from where and to identify chromium... talked about lead to... for poisoning...
excite atoms, they emit specific frequencies, can use as an elemental fingerprint...

?

Does this sound right?

I fell to pieces in the option, I barely knew any of the stuff being asked about.

I put down mass spectrometer for this one as well, but honestly I have no idea whether it's the correct answer.
