Inevitably some points of view will conincide between ideologies, it's the road you take to getting that pov that is most important.

Well it's not really that liberalism and fascism collide (I actually think they don't collide that often), it's more that some fascist ideals are hard to ignore.

Such as? I personally find that on issues such as drugs and gay adoption my stances are more conservative/fascist than liberal, but meh.

You probably only say that (like I do), because you've probably grown up with a belief that the life of the criminal is no way, no matter what your circumstance. (Just one example)

Also remember that despite all the 'the world will end with Howard's IR laws!!!' hype, we are treated very well by our government; a lot of law-abiding citizens wouldn't hesitate to give the police the power to kick a punk's head in if he's giving them attitude.

Then again, a rise of facist policy breeds more facism (if that makes sense). You give the state a bit of power to kick heads in, but nasty people get into power and kick the wrong people's heads.

Although, it does depend on what brand of facism we're talking about (Classical, Roman, Mussolini's version, Nazim's 'I'm not facist [but I want to be]'...)

I know you were asking this to ntb, but I probably have facist views of immigration, crime and the judicial system, as well as views on a more unified national government. :)

I think facism is a far more difficult topic to talk about because it is far less a coherent ideology than Nazism, and even Communism (which has about 12 different big brands). Also, a government would never brand itself as facist or having facist policies.
