Hey people...

I have an agriculture assessment task that asks 2 questions in the Sustainable Land and Resource Management (elective)
They are:

(i) Describe examples of government legislation and regulations concerning on farm water availability and use. Examples include:
- the distribution of water licences
- water licence annual fees
- water allocations
- opening up new irrigation areas and building dams

(ii) Explain the importance of developing regulations for the use of water on farms

I'm finding it crazy hard to get any info for them. Any help would be SO appreciated... it's doing my head in.

Thanks!!

For a national perspective try this article:
http://lwa.gov.au/files/products/ri...ew-principles-and-tools-protection-rivers.pdf
which includes a table that identifies relevant legislations (p26) and then has a discussion about them.

All the state governments have different rules. For specific state based info you will have to look at the state website eg.
Water licensing - NSW Office of Water
for NSW water licences.http://www.water.nsw.gov.au/Water-licensing/Water-Licensing/default.aspx

Some useful documents to read for background information if you are studying irrigation:
