The purpose of this thread is to do gradual, virtual 'group' study. Someone will ask a question, next person answers and posts a new one.

Pretty simple.. In maths, try and use the Latex functionality embedded within the forum.

Use this site to create your formulae: http://www.codecogs.com/latex/eqneditor.php

Then wrap it within the following bbcode tags:

HTML:
[tex]CODE HERE[/tex]
NOTE: Cover topics in preliminary AND HSC course as both will be tested in the HSC.

ALSO:Include the answer to your question as well, so you complete it and the responder can see if they got the question right or not. Try and include steps. Hide your answer within a spoiler using the following tags:

HTML:
[spoiler]Answer here[/spoiler]
I will start with an easy question:

Q: Show that x-5 is a factor of

Answer:
Easy, sub x = 5 into the equation.

It equal zero, therefore x-5 is a factor.

Find an expression for the maximum range in the horizontal plane for a particle with initial velocity V m/s. Find the two angles of projection to give a range equal to half the maximum range.

Edit: I didn't read you first post. Fuck using spoilers, everyone just post your way of doing the question. It shows everyone different ways to think about going into a question.

Just learn LaTeX instead, it's not that hard, I find it pretty natural and intuitive.

A point moves anticlockwise around the circle x^2 + y^2 = 1 at a uniform speed of 2m/s. Find an expression for the rate of change of it's x coodinate in terms of x when the point is above the x-axis.

From what I remember, type your thing and then on the bottom there is a drop down box. Click the latex option and then copy paste onto your message box. Put it in the format [*tex*] blah blah blah [/*tex*] without the *s

uhh yea wtf how do u space lol??
You have to write "\text{Text here}" without the quotation marks and with the [tex.] tags wrapped around it. It's the same for fractions, you need to put \frac{}{}, and various other things.

Ok, raped thread ^_^

Q:

S x/sqrt(2x-5) dx
=0.5 S (2x-5+5)/sqrt(2x-5) dx
=0.5 S sqrt(2x-5) dx +5/2 S (2x-5)^(-1/2) dx
=0.5 S sqrt(u) du+2.5 S u^(-1/2) du
= u^(3/2)/6+(5 sqrt(u))/2+C
= 1/6 (2x-5)^(3/2)+5/2 sqrt(2x-5)+C
= 1/3 (2x-5)sqrt(2x-5)+C

You're also wrong. Last part of my soln was typed incorrectly. Solution is the 2nd last line...1/6 (2x-5)^(3/2)+5/2 sqrt(2x-5)

A body, initially at room temperature, 20 degrees Celsius, is heated so that its temperature would rise by 5 degrees/ min if no cooling took place. Cooling does occur in accordance with Newtons Law of Cooling and the maximum temperature the body could attain is 120 degrees Celsius. How long would it take to reach a temperature of 100 degrees Celsius.

Sorry, blasted latex:

Latex would be easier to read, if you need to know how to do it. Just read this thread >.< lol
